Regulatory Counsel – Asset Management Firm

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Regulatory Counsel to provide expert legal guidance on regulatory matters affecting their operations in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial regulations and a proven track record in the asset management industry. Experience with Australia is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise on regulatory developments and ensure compliance with local and regional laws, including MAS regulations, ASIC guidelines, and other relevant frameworks.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to interpret and implement regulatory requirements effectively.

  • Develop and deliver training programs on regulatory compliance for staff.

  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and submissions.

  • Engage with regulators and industry bodies to advocate for the firm’s interests.

  • Monitor changes in the regulatory landscape and assess their impact on the firm’s operations.

Requirements:
  • Law degree from a recognized institution; admission to the bar in a relevant jurisdiction preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a regulatory counsel or compliance role within the asset management or financial services sector.

  • Strong understanding of financial regulations in Asia Pacific, with a focus on Australia.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
