Head of Compliance, Southeast Asia

Job description

We are collaborating with a top European private bank known for their global reach and tailored financial solutions for high-net-worth individuals and institutions. They are seeking an experienced Head of Compliance for Southeast Asia to oversee Financial Crime and Regulatory compliance.

This role, reporting to the Regional Chief Compliance Officer, requires a strategic leader to ensure adherence to local and international regulations and internal policies. You will guide and deliver to protect the bank's reputation and promote a culture of compliance. 

 

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance framework aligned with regional and global regulatory requirements.

  • Advise the regional leadership team on compliance risks and strategies to mitigate them.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies across Southeast Asia.

  • Deliver responses to regulatory inquiries, inspections and audits.

  • Ensure the bank's policies and procedures are compliant with local laws and regulations.

  • Oversee the effective implementation of anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing (CTF) and sanctions programs.

  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and report findings to senior management.

  • Monitor emerging regulatory changes and recommend necessary adjustments to policies and practices.

  • Develop, guide and mentor a high-performing compliance team across Southeast Asia.

  • Foster a culture of ethical behaviour and compliance awareness within the organisation. 

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, finance, or a related field.

  • Prefer at least 15 years of compliance experience in the financial services industry, preferably within private banking.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Southeast Asian regulatory environments, including MAS, and other regional authorities.

  • Strong management and leadership skills, with a track record of developing and leading high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and develop relationships at all levels.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage complex compliance challenges.

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA) are highly desirable.

Salary: SGD 450,000 per annum (negotiable)
