Head of Data Security & Protection

Job description

We’re working with a highly regarded financial institution with over 40 years of global presence across Asia, Europe, and the US. As part of their continued growth, they’re looking to appoint a Head of Data Security & Protection to lead and evolve their data protection ecosystem.
This newly expanded role reports to the Head of Cyber Security Engineering and plays a pivotal part in strengthening enterprise-wide data security strategies, integrating cyber risk into core business operations, and driving best-in-class protection practices.

 

🔍 Responsibilities

🔒 Enhancing Security Architecture

  • Assess and improve the firm’s data protection architecture

  • Tackle emerging cybersecurity challenges with proactive strategies

⚙️ Cybersecurity Strategy Development

  • Align business objectives with cyber security and technology requirements

  • Design scalable security solutions based on enterprise risk tolerance

🚀 Engineering & Implementation

  • Lead evaluations, proofs-of-concept, and design of new data security systems

  • Build and implement robust DLP and data protection solutions

📘 Operational Excellence

  • Develop security operation models that support efficiency and scalability

  • Maintain high-quality documentation to ensure sustainability and knowledge transfer

🤝 Expert Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to senior business and technology stakeholders

  • Collaborate across application, infrastructure, and compliance teams to integrate security by design

 

✅ Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent

  • 10–20 years of cyber security experience, especially in DLP, data security, and data protection

  • Strong technical leadership in implementing large-scale data protection solutions

  • Proficiency in Python, Shell scripting, or similar for automation

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

  • Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly preferred
